Join us at the inaugural Grey Ghost Classic, a premier marching band competition hosted by IVC Bands. Set against the backdrop of our proud Grey Ghost heritage on IVC's new turf at Taylor Field, this event promises an unforgettable day of music, precision, and spirit.
Whether you're a participating band, a spectator, or a supporter, you’ll be part of a tradition that celebrates the best in high school marching bands. We place bands in classes based on band size and use a BOA-style scoring format. The IVC Marching Grey Ghosts will have an exhibition performance before each awards ceremony.
The Grey Ghost Classic is more than just a competition.
It's a showcase of talent, dedication, and the unbreakable bond between music and community. Our unique event highlights the passion of marching bands from across the region, all vying for top honors in a setting that combines the thrill of performance with the legacy of IVC's Grey Ghost.
Fun Facts:
The first reference to the Grey Ghost nickname appears in 1940, when the football team which up to that point was called the “Maroons,” was referred to as the “Ghosts” in the local newspaper
The Grey Ghost Mascot was inducted into the ESPN Nickname Hall of Fame in 1987 on its weekly High School Sports segment.

For Participating Bands
Prepare to showcase your hard work and talent in front of a supportive audience. The Grey Ghost Classic offers a platform for bands to shine, with awards for Best Music, Best Visuals, Best Percussion, and more. Directors are invited to our hospitality room and also receive recorded adjudicator comments and a video of their group's performance. Enjoy our easy parking and short distance to move equipment to the field.
For Spectators
Cheer on your favorite bands as they march to victory! Enjoy a day filled with stunning performances, delicious food, and a vibrant community atmosphere. Purchase tickets in advance or at the gate.
Ticket prices are: Adults $10 Students (K-12) and Seniors: $5

Stadium Rules
No open containers or outside beverages of any kind are allowed in the stadium.
The use of alcohol, drugs, tobacco products, or vapes are prohibited on IVCHS grounds.
No coolers or backpacks are allowed. Bags may be subject to search.
Animals, other than certified service animals, are not allowed on IVCHS grounds.
Please be positive and cheer on other bands.
Be kind - we have many staff members, parents, and students working hard to create a great event and volunteering their time to establish a safe and fun atmosphere.
